Why This Exists

Shy bladder — paruresis — affects an estimated 7% of the population. That’s tens of millions of people, most of whom never talk about it.

I’m one of them.

The silence problem

This condition thrives in silence. When you can’t use a public restroom, you rearrange your entire life around avoidance. You map out single-stall bathrooms. You dehydrate yourself before events. You decline invitations. You lie about why you were gone so long.

And you never, ever bring it up — because how do you explain to someone that you physically cannot go when others are nearby?

What this blog is about

Unstalled is a place to write honestly about living with paruresis. Not as a medical authority. Not as a therapist. Just as someone who deals with this every day and got tired of dealing with it alone.

I’ll write about:

  • The daily reality — the logistics, the workarounds, the mental overhead
  • What actually helps — graduated exposure, cognitive techniques, what the research says
  • Recovery progress — honest updates on what’s working and what isn’t

Why anonymous

I’m not ready to attach my name to this. Maybe someday. For now, what matters is the content, not who’s writing it. If you found your way here, you probably understand why.

If this is you

You’re not broken. You’re not the only one. And it can get better.

That’s the whole point of this site.
